Many startups use a fractional CTO until they reach the stage where a full-time hire makes sense -at which point I help you find and onboard the right person.

My primary value is at the strategic and architectural level - making sure your team builds the right thing, the right way. I review code, design systems, and can prototype critical components. But I'm not a replacement for a development team. If you need hands-on development capacity, I can help you hire the right people and ensure they're set up for success.

Typically within 1-2 weeks of signing. The discovery call and initial assessment happen in the first week. By week two, I'm integrated with your team and contributing to ongoing decisions. I limit the number of concurrent engagements to ensure every client gets meaningful attention.

Engagements are flexible. You can scale up during critical periods (fundraising, product launches, team transitions) and scale back when things stabilize. Minimum commitment is typically 3 months to allow enough time for meaningful impact, with monthly adjustments after that.
